Dear Shane,

I have to say your recent comments about Fedor Emelianenko make me sick.

I had thought you would understand why you would be getting some crossover fans.

I was wrong and am disapointed at the deception. You are all marketing Shane.

Good luck, but this is one bandwagon I am jumping off of because of the character of the guy we are here for. From your comments you have no sense of history or reality when it comes to mma.

You are not fit to even mention Fedor, Shane and would do well to remeber it if you don't want a contiunued exodous of fans who came to you for what we percieved as a character difference.

Very disapointed in you.

I am very disappointed too. Disappointed that Fedor has not fought anyone of any record for quite some time now. I think that I remember that I said something about, if Fedor was as confident as he and everyone else thinks he is then why didn't he take a 1 or 2 fight contract with Dana and then after he beat those opponents in the UFC he could sign the contract that he has now or with what ever second rate fighting organization that he is with now. It is only logical that fedor has something other than fighting legitimate heavyweights on his mind at this time in his career. And it is not a matter of money either because he certainly could have made much more by first signing with the uFC, and winning those fights and then signing with whom ever. He knows that he is going to lose at some time or another , it is inevitable. It would be nice to remain undefeated for ever but if fedor is going to attempt to remain an undefeated champion by fighting chumpions the rest of his fighting career then he will have to expect to lose all of his most ardent fans. This is 2009 by the way..

i have to say man - you seem to have *completely* missed the point of Shane's comments. you seem to be more interested in stirring controversy than in actually listening to what he said.
first:
"Fedor has built an amazing legacy in this sport. His run in Pride was nothing less then epic. A few years a go I would have put him as the clear P4P Best Fighter in the World."
this doesn't sound like he's disrespecting Fedor - quite the opposite.

then:
"Since Pride has closed its operations Fedor has not really fought any elite fighters and he is essentially being feed "names" that would not have a high percentage chance of beating him. They are working hard on protecting his legacy instead of putting the toughest fights in front of him. That is a disservice to him and the legacy he has built."

what about this statement is either erroneous *or* disrespectful??

i could go into further detail but i think the record speaks for itself.
*i* find that *your* comments about Shane make *me* sick. here is a guy who has gone out of his way to try and uphold the ethic of sportsmanship and humility that has made MMA the truly great sport that it is... a guy who came out and publicly took Brock Lesnar to task for his *utterly* despicable behavior after the Mir fight (behavior that in my opinion set the idea of MMA as a legitimate sport back 10 years or more).
i have never heard Shane Carwin engage in any trash talk or blatantly disrespect another fighter - not even Lesnar.
in my opinion Shane Carwin is the "Great White Hope" for MMA - i can only say that i *fervently* wish to see him defeat Lesnar and put the belt back in the hands of a *deserving* champion - that is a champion who knows what it means to show your opponent, the fans, the sport, and most of all himself - the respect they all deserve.
train hard Shane - we're pulling for you.
bennett
by the way adam - it's "DISAPPOINTED" - TWO P's buddy.
Good for you Shane, I 100% agree with your statement, and I like the fashion you explained yourself. Now GET BACK TO TRAINING SO YOU CAN DESTROY LESNAR!

I respect your opinion but I feel as if I am entitled to my own. The question was how do I (a fighter in the UFC) feel about the claims that Strikeforce has made about the best Heavyweights being in Strikeforce.

Fedor has built an amazing legacy in this sport. His run in Pride was nothing less then epic. A few years a go I would have put him as the clear P4P Best Fighter in the World. I do not think there are many fans or fighters that would dispute that.

Since Pride has closed its operations Fedor has not really fought any elite fighters and he is essentially being feed "names" that would not have a high percentage chance of beating him. My response is not a smack at Fedor it is the plain and simple truth that the best fighters are in the UFC. I was going to face a world class fighter in Cain and now a very tough Brock. I do not have any choice in who I face or when I fight. I am asked to go fight and I do it. We did not hold out for a co-promotion or any other ridiculous terms to fight for the UFC title, I was honored to be offered the opportunity. Guys like Chuck Liddel wen to Pride and lost during their prime and they still became icons. I am a fan of warriors. Warriors do not win every fight they just go into battle to win every fight. If that makes me a jerk I am guilty.
LMAO at this! I am not even aware of what Shane said about Fedor but let me set you straight on a few things. First of all it is appropriate that you mentioned "history" when talking about Fedor because thats what he is. The new breed of HW would destroy Fedor and he agrees thats why he dodged the greates HW division in MMA which resides in the UFC. Rogers was winning his fight with Fedor before Fedor caught him with a right, even on the ground and Rogers has absolutely NO ground skills.Let me help you out here before you embaress your self further: HW's such as Shane, Brock (when healthy) and more than likely Dos Santos would give Fedor ll he could handle or defeat him. Not to mention Cain, Mir etc.... Shane is the FUTURE...get used to it!!!
Shene would destory Fedor. just like he would to Rogers.
Shane Would Ko both Roger's,and Fedor.
Shane Would Ko both Roger's,and Fedor.
Well said, Shane! 'Nuff said!

We don't need losers like Adam Smith on our Shane Carwin Official Website anyway we need loyal fans like me from England who give the freaks next door to me a early wake up call at like 04:30am UK time when i was shouting with joy in seeing Shane knock Mir's deranged dreams away from him on a rematch with Brock The Cock Lesnar....and i'll tell you something now Brock The Cocks days are numbered cos he knows he's gonna get knocked out as well, Brock The Cock wont hold Shane down like he held Mir down with one arm....Back to Smith...as long as Fedor stays away from the UFC he'll be P4P the best....in Strikeforce maybe......but to prove he really is P4P the best H/W he's got to fight the best and he's gonna have to speak to Dana about a UFC contract...and fight Shane, Cain, and J.D.S. and maybe's even The Cock...
Shane is entitled to his own opinion about things. He seems to be a bright guy. If some where down the road he fights Fedor and settle things that put things to rest. In the mean time best of luck to Shane.
