Brock Lesnar career likely over; Dana says he will likely be stripped from belt

Dana White just confirmed reports made by WrestlingObserver,

WrestlinObserver reported:
Brock Lesnar is in extremely bad shape and there are questions as to whether he will ever fight again.

Lesnar, 32, is in far worse shape than he has been letting on. He went to Canada last week to try to get some rest, collapsed, and was rushed to the hospital. He has mono and also something else that he doesn't want to get out, and all we now is that he does not have cancer and he does not have AIDS. It is, however, extremely serious and he will not be fighting again for a long, long time, if he is able to fight again.

Dana White is heading to Minnesota tonight and will be working to get Lesnar to the Mayo Clinic or equivalent medical facility for treatment.

Also, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has a staph infection and his fight with Cain Velasquez at UFC 108 is off. Nogueira will need an IV to hopefully get the infection out. He is also in bad shape.

With Lesnar out indefinitely, Shane Carwin will be undergoing knee surgery, so he will not be available to face Velasquez at UFC 108.

--------------

Dana White said at press conference of UFC 105:

The big news from the UFC Press Conference had nothing to do with tonight’s fights. To a stunned press pack, Dana White announced that Brock Lesnar is not only struggling to recover from mono but that after a recent trip to Canada he has developed further health problems and is currently back in hospital. He refused to give more details about the nature of these health problems except that they were serious. In response to a direct question about what this meant for the future of the heavyweight championship Dana White raised the possibility of an interim championship or even stripping Lesnar of the title. He said that he will be meeting with Lesnar and his people next week to decide what the future holds for the UFC Heavyweight Champion and the championship he currently holds.

UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has already re-scheduled his bout with Shane Carwin twice. Now it looks like it may be put off indefinitely.

At Saturday night's UFC 105 post-event press conference, UFC president Dana White said the mononucleosis that had been bothering Lesnar is still present, but the champ is now suffering a new set of illnesses, as well.

"I am worried about it," White said. "I can't really talk about it right now, but [Lesnar] is in rough shape. He's in really bad shape. I'm actually probably going to fly to go see him, and we're going to probably have to do some stuff to take care of this guy. He is not well, and he's not getting any better."

White said he wasn't sure how serious the new illnesses were and whether they could be career- or event life-threatening.

"I don't know," White told MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com). "I've got to get him to one of these really good hospitals with really good doctors to figure out what's wrong and how we get him better."

White said Lesnar collapsed while spending time on a retreat in Canada and was checked into a hospital in North Dakota.

"[Lesnar] is in bad shape, and the reality is they don't really know all that's wrong with him," White said. "He owns a bunch of property in Canada. He went up to Canada just to get away from his house, to go up there and just kind of chill out up there.

"He [expletive] dropped. He went down, and he had to go to the hospital. They ran every test on the planet on him, and they ended up finding out something else was wrong with him. I've got to figure it out."

White said he's not yet sure what the UFC will do regarding the heavyweight division.

"If it's a long wait, we're gong to have to do something," White said. "We're going to have to – the last thing I ever want to do is strip a guy who won a title. That's the last thing I want to do. I don't know if we'll have to do an interim or what we'll do to fix it."

White said there's still more questions than answers surrounding his heavyweight champion, but one thing was certain: Lesnar will be on the shelf for the foreseeable future.

"He is not good," White said. "He is very, very sick, and he's going to be out for a while."

Nowhere did Dana say his career was "likely" over, but that is a possibility.

Stop posting misleading tiles.

Get well soon Brock.

PS. All of you ***** who said Brock was faking being sick look pretty stupid right now.
I knew he had mono from the start! You dont get the flue for 3 months, specially when your in great shape. Honestly, Brock probably has liver or kidney damage from sports enhancing drug use. I think he has probably been over juicing a little to much because he was afraid of Carwin, and this is what happened...
yeah maybe. i just wish he either gets well and fights or gets well and doesn't fight. either way best of luck to him. we all wish for the best for all our fighters. time to move on.
as much as I don't like Lesnar, I do hope to see him fight again. I never like to see somebody lose a title because of something stupid like this. If he is going to lose it, I at least want it to be in a good fight. Best wishes to Lesnar. With him, Carwin and Nogs on the shelf...maybe you could feed Velasquez whoever you can find and then have him fight Mir when he beats Kongo. Throw Carwin in there when his knee gets 100% for the interim title...just my thoughts on a possible solution.
agreed...i HATE lesnar BUT.....i want to see him lose hiz title in fight, not because he'z ill (not like the Beastie Boyz). It does sound like he'll be out for a LONG LONG time. Get well Lesnar....
i feel i should state my opinion on this.

A guy that is not able to defend a championship is deserving of the belt being stripped.

As i said, either he gets well and fights or he does not get well and stripped of belt. Lets move on, pick a path. We can keep moving forward or retrace our steps and pick up the missing pieces.

Certainly I hope Brock gets over his ailments and returns to good health asap. That's the most important thing. Regardless of what you think of him (and I am not a fan) you have to pray for his good health, regardless of what it means for his MMA career. With that said, I also feel real bad for Shane missing his title shot this Saturday. He worked real hard to get there and now the future is once again uncertain. That is immensely disappointing. We all know how quickly things can change in this game. I just hope that the UFC will do the right thing and give Shane - as the #1 contender - his opportunity to fight for the belt one way or another within the next 6-12 months.

Good luck, Shane. Hang in there and keep working the plan. You will get there. We believe in you.
First I believe that someone said that he was suffering from the flu.. Then the next possibility was that he was cleaning his system out of a banned substance.. Then the next feasible rumor was that he had the tongue twister "Mononucleosis".. Now the buzz is that he does not have cancer or aids.. Really that does leave only one other possibility doesn't it?? I would assume that Lesner would have had to have had a physical before any large fighting contracts were signed.. So --- How could he possibly be implying that he has Hepatitis A B or C.. From what I have read Hepatitis is a slow developing illness so I would think that it would be unlikely that he contracted it after he began fighting in the UFC. Anyway it sure is a whole lot easier to spell.. No I will not say that, I told you so"..
I don't know if anybody has heard any updates yet, but I hear Lesnar's surgery was a success in the early stages, and if all goes well Lesnar may be training again in about 6 months. I say let Lesnar hold onto his title, but make a interim match up for the time being.

BTW I think Lesnar had some sort of severe infection in his intestines that got out of hand because of mononucleosis.
